A video of a Tesla Model 3 driving through a deeply flooded street past Ukrainian advertising signs has drawn the attention of the American automotive publication Supercar Blondie.
The footage, originally posted to the forum Reddit, shows the electric vehicle creating large waves as it pushes through the water, looking more like a submarine than a car. The exact location is not specified, but the signage is in Ukrainian.
Supercar Blondie said it was hard to believe the event actually happened, adding that it was not something seen every day.
Other cars in the video are stationary. They are either stuck in the huge puddle after flooding their engines, or waiting because they do not dare to dive in.
Electric vehicle advantage
The Model 3 was able to keep moving because it lacks an internal combustion engine. Supercar Blondie noted that a Tesla does not have a conventional engine air intake, while its battery pack and other components are designed with water protection.
The publication said this might explain why the Model 3 appeared unbothered moving through the flooded street. However, it cautioned that there is a big difference between water protection and being designed to drive through a flood.
Supercar Blondie described the footage as an incredible spectacle. The publication noted that the Model 3 is one of the most famous electric vehicles on the planet, but seeing one cross what looks like a temporary lake is hardly a typical moment for a Tesla.
Damage warning
Supercar Blondie warned Tesla owners not to treat the video as an operating manual. Deep or fast moving water can cause a vehicle to lose traction or stop completely, and hidden obstacles like holes or debris can cause damage.
Water exposure can also damage a car's brakes, wheel bearings and electrical systems.
Global automotive sales
In the first half of 2026, the Tesla Model Y became the global leader in crossover sales, increasing volume by 20.7 percent. It overtook the Toyota RAV4, which saw a volume drop of more than a quarter due to production constraints.
Tesla's success was explained by the launch of more affordable versions, price cuts and the vehicle's high energy efficiency.
Separately, Ferrari unveiled a unique CZ26 supercar in Monterey. Built under its Special Projects program and based on the SF90 Stradale, the vehicle features 1970s styling elements, silver paint with black and red accents, and sporty changes to the interior.
