Surquillo Street Brawl Erupts Over Delivery Dispute

Four men engaged in a violent street brawl in the Surquillo district of Lima, Peru, after an ice cream delivery truck was blocked from passing.

The confrontation took place shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday along Maria Elena Moyano Street in the Capebco neighborhood, resulting in physical injuries and material damage to a delivery truck.

Witnesses captured the incident on video, showing an argument that rapidly escalated into physical aggression with punches, pushing, kicks, and objects used as weapons before being shared on social media platforms.

Dispute over blocked delivery

According to a female local resident, the conflict started when workers attempted to deliver a shipment of merchandise to a commercial establishment next to a business in the neighborhood. She stated that the delivery workers were prevented from driving through with their vehicle and were forced to wait for about an hour before an argument erupted between those involved.

Video footage showed the dispute turning violent when two shirtless men began fighting in the middle of the street. Surrounding neighbors and passersby watched as the two men exchanged punches and wrestled on the roadway until one of them fell onto the pavement.

Instead of stopping the clash, a third man wearing a black polo shirt stepped in and began attacking the individual lying on the ground. Nearby residents attempted to intervene and halt the violence, but the men continued fighting.

Fire extinguisher used as a weapon

The brawl intensified when one participant moved toward a delivery truck parked nearby. Video recordings show a man wearing shorts pushing the vehicle door as the physical fight continued around him.

Shortly afterward, one of the men retrieved a fire extinguisher from inside the vehicle. Official sources reported that the extinguisher was initially thrown against a pickup truck where several opponents were situated.

The fire extinguisher then fell into the hands of the man in the black polo shirt, who used the device to smash the windshield of the cargo truck. Upon impact, the extinguisher discharged, releasing its chemical content over a fourth participant wearing a yellow polo shirt.

Despite the chemical discharge, the man in the black shirt and the man in the yellow shirt continued punching each other in the street. During the fight, one of the combatants picked up the extinguisher again and struck his opponent in the head, causing him to collapse onto the pavement.

Police investigation in Surquillo

After several minutes of intense violence, the participants dispersed and fled the scene. Officers from the National Police of Peru subsequently arrived at the Capebco neighborhood to gather evidence and inspect the physical damage left behind.

Surquillo is an urban district located in the Lima Metropolitan Area of Peru. The National Police of Peru, the official state law enforcement agency, registered a police report for material damage caused to the delivery truck at the local district station.

Peruvian police officers are reviewing video footage submitted by neighbors and witnesses to identify the four men and determine legal liabilities. Law enforcement authorities confirmed that investigation proceedings remain open as they work to clarify the origin of the dispute.
