Streaming platform Apple TV has premiered the fifth season of the animated children's series Stillwater, featuring a wise giant panda who counsels three young siblings through everyday childhood challenges using gentle animal fables.
Known in Spanish as Pequeñas historias zen, the series returns with its core framework intact, presenting contemplative stories designed to help young viewers understand and process complex emotional experiences.

The show centers on Stillwater, a calm panda living alongside three siblings named Karl, Addy, and Michael. Rather than acting as a conventional problem solver, Stillwater is typically shown busy with daily tasks such as gardening or knitting a scarf before offering zen-inspired parables to help the children navigate their feelings.
While many contemporary children's programs rely on fast-paced action, Stillwater maintains a distinct identity built around subtle, universally recognizable conflicts. The narrative focuses on minor domestic arguments, fears, jealousy, insecurity, and the difficulty of understanding different perspectives.
New Episodes and Return of Koo
The fifth season marks the return of Koo, Stillwater's endearing niece. Koo acts as an energetic counterpart to Karl while observing her uncle's thoughtful lessons throughout the new episodes.
In one upcoming storyline, Addy feels the need to be alone to rest, leading to a fable about a turtle that illustrates the value of personal space. Other episodes show Addy struggling to sleep, Karl attempting to impress others with a special lunch, and Koo dealing with frustration when things go wrong.
The new season also explores broader emotional themes, including a storyline where Michael makes a new friend. In another episode, the group encounters a dead bird, addressing the theme of loss with a gentle tone that respects the young audience without oversimplifying complex emotions.
Structure of Zen Parables
Each short episode follows a consistent structure, beginning with a shared problem among the children. Stillwater then presents an animated parable that allows the characters to reach their own conclusions before applying the lesson to their daily lives.
The series is based on the Zen Shorts picture books by author and illustrator Jon J. Muth. All four previous seasons of the program remain available to stream on Apple TV.
