Spider-Man: Brand New Day Passes $2 Billion Worldwide

Sony Pictures feature film Spider-Man: Brand New Day has surpassed $2 billion in global box office receipts after three weekends in theatres worldwide.

The production starring Tom Holland in the title role as the Marvel superhero has generated $785 million in North America and $1.23 billion in international markets, bringing its global total to $2.022 billion.

Holland returns to the starring role that established his international acting career. Sony Pictures produces and distributes the Spider-Man franchise in collaboration with Marvel Studios, bringing the iconic comic book superhero to global cinema audiences.

Historical ranking and box office speed

Industry trade publication Variety reported that the movie has made cinematic history by becoming only the eighth film ever to cross the $2 billion threshold at the global box office.

The achievement places the feature alongside an elite group of box office record holders, including Avatar ($2.9 billion in 2009), Avengers: Endgame ($2.7 billion in 2019), Avatar: The Way of Water ($2.3 billion in 2022), Ne Zha 2 ($2.27 billion in 2025), Titanic ($2.2 billion in 1997), Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($2.07 billion in 2015), and Avengers: Infinity War ($2.03 billion in 2018).

Spider-Man: Brand New Day also stands as the second fastest film in history to hit $2 billion worldwide. It trails only Avengers: Endgame, which reached the milestone in 11 days.

Franchise comparison and opening run

The milestone surpasses the performance of the franchise's previous entry, Spider-Man: No Way Home, released in 2021. That film reached $1.9 billion globally but fell short of the $2 billion mark after failing to secure a theatrical release in China.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day demonstrated immense commercial momentum from its debut at the end of July. In its opening weekend, the film earned $355 million in North America and $932 million globally, taking just six days to pass $1 billion worldwide.

Market projections and box office outlook

Film market analysts consider it certain that the movie will finish its theatrical run as one of the most profitable productions of all time.

With eighth place on the all-time global box office chart already secured, several analysts estimate that Spider-Man: Brand New Day could become the first film in history to reach $1 billion in the United States domestic market, or potentially the first to achieve $3 billion globally.
