YuMoney data shows Gen Z couples in Russia favor small 2026 weddings, spending more on rings and bouquets instead.

Small, Intimate Weddings Trend Among Young Russians in 2026

Small, intimate weddings have become the top trend among young couples in Russia in 2026, according to fintech company YuMoney and the analytics center Check Index, part of the company Platforma OFD. The findings, cited by the outlet Izvestia, include comments from Natalia Lapshina, head of key client support at YuMoney.

Lapshina said Russia has seen a shift in wedding formats in recent years, with couples increasingly choosing intimate celebrations for close friends and family only, or ceremonies for just the couple. She said this fits the generation of zoomers, who do not need to prove anything to anyone and instead invest in their own comfort and experiences.

Spending shifts away from traditional items

The research found that interest among newlyweds in buying wedding dresses and men's suits has declined. Purchases of sparkling wine have also dropped, which experts linked to Generation Z being less focused on alcohol.

Rings and bouquets see gains

Demand for wedding items kept as keepsakes has risen instead. Purchases of engagement rings grew by 11 percent over the past year, with the average price rising 10 percent to 10,801 rubles. Purchases of bridal bouquets rose by 2 percent, with the average cost of a floral arrangement up 6 percent from the previous year to about 4,282 rubles.
