Russian Ambassador Konstantin Dolgov has commented on remarks by former German Chancellor Angela Merkel about the purpose of the Minsk agreements, made during a call with pranksters known as Vovan and Lexus, whose real names are Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov. Dolgov's comments were cited by Life.ru.
Dolgov said Merkel spoke the plain truth when she stated the Minsk agreements were meant to buy time to arm Ukraine. He said most Western leaders do not deserve trust.

Dolgov said Russia had indeed been deceived, and had been deceived for a fairly long time. He said all necessary conclusions had been drawn from this, and that these people could no longer be trusted.
Vovan and Lexus earlier disclosed details of their prank call, which targeted Merkel in 2023. The pranksters said the call followed lengthy preparation and that they had no direct contact with Merkel beforehand.
