Real Madrid face Ferencvaros in Budapest preseason clash

Real Madrid play Ferencvaros in Budapest on Saturday in their second preseason fixture under Jose Mourinho before returning to Spain.

Real Madrid face Ferencvaros in Budapest preseason clash

Real Madrid take on Hungarian champions Ferencvaros at the Groupama Arena in Budapest on Saturday evening as Jose Mourinho leads his side into their second official preseason fixture of the summer.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 19:00 local time, with Real Madrid Television broadcasting the game live and in full. The fixture follows a 2-2 draw against Italian side Fiorentina in Real Madrid's opening friendly of the summer schedule.

Rather than embarking on long-distance commercial tours to exotic destinations in Asia or extended trips across the United States, the Spanish club has opted to conduct its entire preseason preparation within Europe. The decision keeps travel times shorter for Mourinho's squad as they build fitness ahead of the upcoming campaign.

A central element of Real Madrid's summer plan involves a major stop in A Coruña, where the team will play three of their four scheduled preseason matches.

Teresa Herrera Trophy match in Galicia

Four days after playing in Hungary, Real Madrid will travel to Galicia to face Real Club Deportivo de A Coruña in the annual Teresa Herrera Trophy. The match will take place at the Abanca Riazor stadium with kick-off set for 21:00 local time.

Deportivo La Coruña, one of Galicia's most famous football institutions, host the Teresa Herrera Trophy each summer at their Riazor home near the Atlantic coast. The historic tournament has been a staple of Spanish preseason football since its inception in 1946.

Anniversary friendly against Schalke in Germany

Real Madrid will conclude their preseason preparations for the 2026-2027 season with a trip to Gelsenkirchen in Germany to face Schalke 04. The friendly will kick off at 17:00 local time at the Veltins-Arena and serves as part of celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of the German stadium.

Organisers have not yet confirmed a television broadcast signal for the final fixture against Schalke. The Veltins-Arena, home to Schalke 04 since opening in 2001, is renowned for its retractable pitch and sliding roof in the North Rhine-Westphalia region.

La Liga opener against Espanyol

Following the match in Gelsenkirchen, Real Madrid will head directly into competitive action for the 2026-2027 domestic season. Their opening official fixture will be an away match against RCD Espanyol in La Liga.

Real Madrid, based in the Spanish capital, are the most successful club in Spanish football history, while Barcelona-based Espanyol remain regular competitors in Spain's top flight. The trip to Catalonia will mark Mourinho's first official league match of the new season.
