Former child star Raquel Lee Bolleau is suing The Walt Disney Company, alleging she was repeatedly raped and sexually assaulted by a now-former Disney employee when she was a teenager.
According to a legal complaint obtained by The Daily Mail, the now 39-year-old actress filed a civil negligence lawsuit against the media giant in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday, August 21. Bolleau also starred alongside Amanda Bynes in Nickelodeon's The Amanda Show.
In the complaint, Bolleau alleges she was repeatedly sexually assaulted by an unnamed, middle-aged male Disney employee while filming the 2001 Disney Channel movie The Poof Point, when she was 14 years old.
Bolleau's attorneys, Douglas Wigdor and Jane Kim, released a statement to The Daily Mail on Monday. "Over the last decade, countless child actors have come forward to bravely share their experiences of abuse by adults in entertainment," the statement read. "As former government prosecutors, our message to Disney and the entertainment industry at large is simple: This conduct is inexcusable, and those involved, directly or indirectly, must be held accountable. We applaud Ms. Bolleau's courage and look forward to holding Disney accountable for the serious pain it has caused."
The Daily Mail has also reached out to representatives for The Walt Disney Company for comment and has yet to hear back.
Alleged assaults during filming
The complaint alleges the employee supplied Bolleau with alcohol and assaulted her multiple times while cast and crew were staying in Salt Lake City, as well as during a flight back to California.
Bolleau alleges that Disney failed to protect her, claiming there were signs that something was wrong. According to the complaint, she was instructed to "bond" and spend time with the unnamed employee, and production had separated her from her guardian and failed to provide appropriate supervision.
Bolleau alleges the employee would "torment" her while on set, including whispering comments such as "last night was so good," which she claims happened in plain view of other adults. She alleges "no one at Disney intervened."
Claims of ignored warning signs
In the complaint, Bolleau also claims that adults working on the production noticed dramatic changes in her behavior and performance once the alleged abuse began, including that she appeared sick and intoxicated.
She described this shift as "a stark difference from the dedicated, studious and diligent child actress who had joined the movie."
Bolleau further claims in the complaint that Disney not only failed to investigate but blamed her for her increasingly poor performance, describing her as "out of control," and cancelled another planned role for her.
Damages sought
Through the lawsuit, Bolleau is seeking damages for alleged economic losses and emotional distress, as well as punitive damages, attorneys' fees and other costs. The complaint does not specify the total amount of damages she is seeking.
Bolleau's career since The Poof Point
After filming The Poof Point, Bolleau had a recurring voiceover role as the character Nubia Gross on the Disney animated series The Proud Family, which originally aired from 2001 to 2005. She later returned for the Disney+ revival, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, which streamed from 2022 to 2026.
Bolleau has also appeared on screen, starring in the Kevin Hart series Real Husbands of Hollywood from 2013 to 2016 and in the 2017 comedy Grow House, led by Snoop Dogg. She married Edouard Bolleau in 2016, and the couple share three children.
