Netflix has announced Weight to Date, a working title for a new reality dating series following single participants through major weight loss journeys and romantic relationships.
The project is currently in the participant selection phase, with no official release date or confirmed cast announced by the streaming platform.
The series will track approximately 10 to 12 single people during and after significant weight loss. Production will follow the participants as they navigate shifts in personal identity, re-enter the dating scene, and attempt to build lasting relationships.
Producers aim to move away from the message that weight loss is a prerequisite for finding a partner. Instead, the show will document each participant's complete personal and physical transformation across every stage of their journey.
Documentary format and participant focus
Rather than adopting the competitive structure typical of many television dating formats, Weight to Date will take a documentary-style approach. The camera crew will record personal experiences as physical changes influence how cast members view themselves and approach romance.
Some participants will enter the show after already losing a substantial amount of weight, facing the challenge of dating following a major physical change. The project will examine what occurs when physical transformation alters an individual's self-perception.
