Moon Knight and Ghost Rider are reported to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in upcoming projects including Midnight Children, according to new reports. Marvel currently has two ensemble films planned to mix new and old characters ahead of upcoming Avengers movies.
Moon Knight was previously confirmed to return following the premiere of his 2022 series. Reports from The Cosmic Circus, via CBM, state that the character is expected to take center stage in a Midnight Children film, but he may first appear in the series Daredevil: born again.
The report notes that Moon Knight's next story is expected to take place in New York, though that setting remains unconfirmed. Moon Knight will not appear in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars.
Nicolas Cage and Ghost Rider MCU Plans
Reports also state that Nicolas Cage is locked to return as Johnny Blaze. Cage will not appear in Avengers: Doomsday, but could return in Avengers: Secret Wars or Spider-Man 4 following previous reports of a team-up in Spider-Man's next solo adventure.
Cage is not expected to remain the primary spirit of revenge in the MCU. When reintroduced, Ghost Rider will start as "an agent of Mephisto before leaving on his path," indicating Marvel Studios plans to show his origin story as he serves the MCU devil before becoming a hero in his own right.
The Ghost Rider anti-hero is also expected to play a major role in Midnight Children alongside Moon Knight as Marvel fits returning and new characters into its current film landscape.
