Peruvian television host Milagros Leiva met face to face with the mother of an assaulted student at Liceo Naval to issue an apology.
The encounter occurred on the current affairs program Esta Noche on Panamericana Television after Leiva faced widespread public criticism for revealing the victim's identity during an earlier broadcast.
During the transmission, Leiva addressed her guest directly to assume responsibility for disclosing the minor's name in previous broadcasts. She expressed gratitude to the mother for accepting the apology offered to her, her family and her son.
Leiva stated on air that she would not ask for specific details about the assault to avoid causing further distress to the family. She added that she could not begin to imagine the pain the mother was experiencing.

The journalist had previously faced severe scrutiny from various sectors across Peru after airing the teenager's identity. In earlier comments, Leiva defended her actions by stating that her instinct as a mother had overtaken her professional judgment during the live broadcast.

The mother declared on Panamericana Television that four of the teenagers under investigation in connection with the assault remain free on appearance orders. She noted that those four students will not attend the school while the case proceeds.
She emphasized that her son is the only student with the right to return to classrooms at Liceo Naval once his health permits it. Liceo Naval is a prominent system of educational institutions in Peru administered by the Peruvian Navy, serving primary and secondary students.
Authorities have granted formal protection measures for the injured student, who continues his physical and emotional recovery at home without attending in-person classes while officials investigate those involved.

During the interview on Esta Noche, the mother affirmed that she will closely accompany her son throughout his recovery process. She requested that the formal investigation clearly establish all corresponding legal responsibilities.
