Daniel Diemer and Shaheen Jafargholi have joined the cast of season two of 'Más que rivales', the Movistar Plus+ series, it was announced on Tuesday. Diemer will play Ryan Price and Jafargholi will play Fabian Salah.
Both actors will take on lead roles in the new season of the show, which was created by Jacob Tierney and is based on the Game Changers novels by author Rachel Reid. In the new episodes, they will share the screen with Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, as well as a new pairing played by Justice Smith and Charlie Gillespie.
What the creators said
Tierney and co-creator Brendan Brady said Fabian and Ryan each bring a distinctive energy to the world Rachel Reid has built, describing them as bold, complex and deeply fascinating characters. They said finding actors who could capture all of those facets mattered greatly to them.
The pair added that Diemer and Jafargholi bring great confidence and emotional honesty to their roles, and said they were eager for audiences to see what the two actors do with Fabian and Ryan and how they make the characters their own.
A growing cast
'Más que rivales' is one of the most anticipated series for spring 2027, and filming on its second season is already under way. The production has been gradually revealing new cast members in recent weeks, most recently Robert Naylor, Emily Hampshire, Edvin Ryding, Sabrina Jalees and Priyanka.
Naylor will play Wyatt Hayes, a popular character from the Game Changers books. Hampshire will play Vanessa, Ryding will play Luca Haas, Jalees will play Farah Jalali and Priyanka will play Tarek.
The new season's storyline
These characters will enrich a plot centred on the strain faced by a couple who have kept their relationship secret for a decade. The season will also follow a new duo: Troy Barrett, a hockey player on Ilya Rozanov's team with a history of bullying, and Harris Drover, the team's upbeat social media manager.
The new episodes will adapt 'The Long Game', the sixth volume in the book saga. Showrunner Jacob Tierney said the storyline will jump forward ten years, reuniting audiences with the show's protagonists at a critical point in their relationship.
