Lucia Hawley admitted she felt nervous on Thursday when she interviewed her aunt Nicole Kidman for the first time in a video clip for SheerLuxe.
The 27-year-old journalist sat down with the Oscar-winning actress, 59, and her Practical Magic 2 co-star Sandra Bullock, 62, to promote the upcoming fantasy sequel.
In a clip shared to Instagram this week, Hawley could be seen wringing her hands with unease before speaking. "I feel nervous!" Hawley said during the interview.
Kidman immediately addressed the audience to explain their family connection. "This is my niece, everyone. We kind of have to disclose," Kidman said to viewers at home.
The interview quickly turned to family folklore when Hawley shared a surprising detail about the women in their family, suggesting that some people might describe them as witches.
"I don't know if you know this about the Kidman women. We sway to the more magical side," Hawley told Bullock. "Some people would say, 'witches'. Grandma was born on Friday the 13th."
Bullock, who was celebrating the reunion of the film franchise, joked in response: "Oh, it all makes sense now!"
Kidman then revealed that while she favours love spells, she takes a cold approach when holding a grudge. "If I'm a little bit upset with someone, I will write their name and put it in the freezer," Kidman said.
When Bullock asked what that accomplishes, Kidman replied that it "freezes them out." Hawley confirmed that the habit is inherited, revealing that her late grandmother, Janelle Ann Kidman, "used to have a list of names in the ice cube area."
Janelle Ann Kidman died at age 84 in September 2024. Kidman assured the host that the ice bath is not permanent, adding that someone can "come out of the freezer" if they make amends with her.
Practical Magic 2 premiere and social media debut
The SheerLuxe appearance follows Kidman making her official TikTok debut with a behind-the-scenes look at the London premiere of Practical Magic 2.
The sultry clip showed Kidman getting glammed up before attending the star-studded premiere event at the Leicester Square Odeon on Thursday night. Kidman wore a custom silver Chanel gown as she sashayed around throughout the video clip.
Kidman captioned her debut social media post for fans: "Magic brought me here ✨ #PracticalMagic2 @practicalmagicmovie."
At the premiere, Kidman and Bullock graced the blue carpet together ahead of the film's theatrical release on September 11. The sequel arrives more than 25 years after the original 1998 cult film, which established the story of sisters raised in a witch family at the centre of town gossip.
The new movie, executive produced by Warner Bros, is adapted from Alice Hoffman's 2021 sequel novel, The Book of Magic. Bullock reprises her role as Sally Owens alongside Kidman as her sister Gillian Owens.
The sequel properly introduces the next generation of the family, featuring Joey King and Maisie Williams as Sally's on-screen daughters, Kylie and Antonia. The film cast also features Lee Pace and Solly McLeod.
