Love Island USA Renewed for Season 9 With Host Ariana Madix

Peacock has officially renewed hit dating competition series Love Island USA for a ninth season following a record-breaking summer run, with Emmy-nominated television personality Ariana Madix returning as host in Fiji.

The streaming network confirmed the renewal in an Aug. 26 press release as the show's eighth season came to a close, securing Madix's return to the Villa for another summer of dating competition.

Madix, 42, a well-known personality from Bravo's reality series Vanderpump Rules, had previously hinted that her position on the show was secure despite rumors suggesting she might depart the gig. Speaking to Us Weekly earlier this month, Madix acknowledged the speculation surrounding her role while noting existing plans for the franchise.

"I do [see that]. And obviously I can’t speak yet to what’s going to be happening next season," Madix told Us Weekly. "We did announce already that I will be hosting Love Island Games next year."

Peacock had previously confirmed the return of Beyond the Villa for a third iteration alongside Love Island Games, a challenge-focused spinoff that brings together past contestants. Love Island USA itself is an American adaptation of the popular international reality dating format, in which singles isolate in a tropical villa to form couples, navigate twists, and compete for a fan-voted cash prize.

Season eight reunion preview

Before production begins on season nine, Peacock released a first look at the highly anticipated season eight reunion special, which promises intense drama among the cast. Co-hosted by veteran Bravo talk show host Andy Cohen alongside Madix, the reunion special was taped in Los Angeles on Aug. 9 and is set to air on Aug. 31.

Cohen, widely known for hosting high-stakes reality television reunion specials, joins the cast to revisit the season's most controversial moments and evaluate where the couples stand after leaving Fiji.

A sneak preview of the reunion confirmed speculation of a rift between Islanders Kenzie Annis and Melanie Moreno. During a tense exchange on stage, Annis stopped mid-sentence to confront Moreno directly, stating, "You just rolled your eyes," to which Moreno answered, "Yeah."

Moreno is also set to face another confrontation during the special with Sol Dean, who dated Moreno's current partner, Sincere Rhea, during her time in the Villa. In the teaser clip, Moreno tells Dean, "You're just a liar," before adding, "I'm sorry."

Dean clapped back at her castmate on stage, shouting, "It's not about you right now," and adding, "It's about me and my experience," while also appearing to describe Moreno as an antagonist.

Islander relationship dynamics

Despite the conflicts on stage, several couples displayed a strong connection during the taping. Contestants Aniya Harvey, 23, and Carl Schmidt sat side by side, joking about the strength of their relationship since leaving the show.

When Madix questioned whether Schmidt could handle Harvey in terms of their sexual chemistry, the 23-year-old volleyball fanatic quipped, "I fear he can." Schmidt made his entrance at the reunion wearing a maroon suit, though the preview noted it did not quite top popping out of a giant cake.

Contestants KC Chandler and Tierra "Titi" Davis also presented a united front in the hot seat. Meanwhile, Moreno and Rhea, a former track star who kept a straight face for photos, were seated next to each other on stage, though the teaser withheld any definitive glimpse into their current relationship dynamic.

The reunion special also brings back season eight winners Trinity Tatum and her boyfriend Bryce Alakai. The couple took home the $100,000 grand prize after being voted the winning pair by viewers in July.

Reunion red carpet glamour

Alongside the reunion teaser, details of the cast's red carpet fashion from the Aug. 9 taping in Los Angeles were revealed. Winner Tatum dazzled in a V-neck dress adorned with glittering fringe, while her boyfriend Alakai wore a black suit for the occasion.

Dean debuted a major hair transformation at the event, replacing her former pixie cut with long curls paired with a zebra print dress. Annis, dubbed the splits queen, also changed her look by ditching her bangs.

Moreno showcased a striking model look on the red carpet, while Rhea was pictured ready for the hot seat in formal attire. Caleb Mimms completed his suit with accessories, specifically a watch and jewelry, while noting without a smoothie in sight that haters will say it is AI.

Jen Terry, described by fans as the internet's everything bagel, wore a sheer blush dress featuring pink floral details that bared her midriff. Harvey flashed a smile in a Belle-inspired princess dress, while Zach Georgiou, a self-described One Direction stan, opted for a cream suit.

Kayda Bosse, a New Hampshire native, wore a bronzed, see-through column dress on the red carpet, while country sweetheart Caleb McDaniel rolled up in a denim jacket paired with a black outfit. Davis and Chandler arrived together in Los Angeles to complete the cast's reunion look lineup.
