“Boiling Point” (2022)

Released this fall, the British film conveys the situation we’ve all been feeling lately, where we’ve reached the boiling point and it’s not clear when the tension will subside. Another title might be The Stressed Chef, as he talks about how exactly problems should be handled as the game progresses, when everything goes wrong on Christmas Eve at a popular London restaurant. It turned out to be almost a gastronomic thriller, and the feeling of it was achieved, among other things, due to the fact that the film was shot in one take (for the fourth time). It is very dynamic, disturbing and tense. We all know how. As befits a thriller, the result is unexpected.
“Taste of Life” (2021)

It seems like a banal plot: a prosperous and successful, outwardly ideal, married couple with children, the husband discovers the infidelity of his wife. However, the director manages to make the film special thanks to the Scandinavian approach and shooting characteristics, which are the responsibility of Lars von Trier’s permanent cinematographer Manuel Alberto Claro. It stars Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. What about the food here? And here’s the thing: The main characters own a restaurant that is about to receive a Michelin star.
“Chief Man Jones” (2015)

The drama starring Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller is a fine example of what the endless race for excellent food, stars and critical acclaim can lead to. The daily adrenaline of being a chef sometimes comes at a heavy price. There is a story and this story is told about such a boss trying to get up after failures.
“Spices and Passions” (2014)

French snobs believe that no one in the world can compete with them in the kitchen. And here, in a small town in Provence, settled an Indian family who dared to open a small restaurant right next to the Michelin restaurant! Of course, the inhabitants of all Michelin cuisine were outraged. But the guests quickly “voted in rubles” for the dish of self-taught Indians, who turned out to be very talented. It is displayed so appetizingly that it seems as if you can smell the spices and flavor of Indian food right off the screen. Naturally, there was a love story. Hellen Mirren plays the main restaurant snob.
“Cook for the President” (2012)

Have you always wondered how different countries cooked for the first people? Then this movie is for you. About the cuisine of the President of France and the female chef who runs it, which is still not very common. There are backstage stories, intrigues and scandals of the “palace” cuisine.
Romantics Anonymous (2010)

Belgium, small town, bakery selling the best chocolate in town. A new employee comes to work and is very shy. However, like the business owner. However, they found a theme that overcame their shyness – their passion for chocolate. What about anonymous romantics? And this is a society in which both main characters realize that they are in love not only with chocolate, but also with each other. A touching movie about people who rarely become movie protagonists because they usually don’t like to draw attention to themselves.
“Taste of Life” (2007)

Apparently a popular name for food movies. And this “Taste of Life” is also about relationships.
What do you think the life of a chef is like? How diverse, light, bright, cheerful? Of course, it may be different, but above all, it is iron discipline and very, very methodical hard work in a room that is almost always +40C. This is exactly what the bright and tough chef of a New York restaurant (playing as Catherine Zeta-Jones) lives, a rather monotonous and boring life devoted solely to the cuisine. It suits her, but the sudden appearance of a little niece and a new coworker turns the usual strict routine on its head.
“Julie & Julia: Cooking Happiness with a Recipe” (2009)

New Yorker Julie Powell decided to cook for a year using recipes from Julie Child’s most famous book of French recipes half a century ago. It’s a seemingly simple, poignant comedy melodrama with recipes, but it’s actually a reflection of how life has changed over the past 50 years. Meryl Streep as Julia.
“Kung Fu Cooking” (2009)

If you like Asian martial arts movies, check out Chef’s Kung Fu. This is a parody of Asian martial arts movies in which a young chef with the help of an experienced chef helps him win a duel for the title of chief chef at the “Imperial Palace”.
“1001 recipes for a cook in love” (1996)

A story about a French chef’s journey in Georgia! And the action takes place in the 20s. XX century. The film is a combination of Georgian beauties, incredibly mouth-watering dishes and the humorous charm of Pierre Richard, who plays the role of a traveling cook.
