TenChat: why is everyone talking about “Russian Facebook” * and do you need it?

After blocking Instagram * and Facebook *, users began to massively switch to other platforms: for example, the monthly viewership of VKontakte exceeded 100 million people, and in March Telegram surpassed WhatsApp for the first time in terms of traffic in Russia.

TenChat has also recorded record growth: the platform’s number of new users exceeds 3300%, and the traffic growth is estimated to be 586 (!) times.

Overall, a business social network originally from Russia is currently enjoying its heyday, although it was created only six months ago, in October 2021. The creators call it a mix of the best of Facebook*, LinkedIn and WeChat, and in one of the interviews they say that they were inspired by the architecture of the latter. According to the company, by the end of the spring, the number of registered TenChat users may exceed one million (up from 530% in March), which means it’s now time to learn more about the site. Let’s talk!

For whom?

TenChat users are divided into three large clusters.

· Entrepreneurs – you can register a legal entity and participate in tenders, search for employees, check contractors.

Employees – You can search for jobs, check employers, make friends and apply for loans.

· Freelancers – you can search for clients, apply for loans and make useful contacts. network!

When registering, you definitely need to choose which “role” you belong to, so feed ranking algorithms, profile content and basic features change.

For example, entrepreneurs have a business degree – a technology for assessing an entrepreneur’s degree of influence based on artificial intelligence (the higher the level, the greater the financial success in the business and the more effective the person). In addition, TenChat is customizable: choose an interest, clarify priorities (job search, recruiting, customer acquisition) and goals.

Semyon Tenyaev, founder of TenChat

“There is a reason for the split. For example, we will propose new business opportunities to an entrepreneur: we will provide contractors, interesting employees and important news about their activities. Employees have new opportunities to move up the career ladder: meeting with colleagues in the store, recommendations for HR and vacancies, a platform for posting their cases, and prioritizing by topic in the cases feed. The freelancer (aka self-employed) will be able to find new jobs, regular clients or a new job if they decide to return to the office. And the opinion leader will gain access to a unique, active and thoughtful audience and support from feed sorting algorithm Zeus. Authors have dozens of different topics at their disposal, from beauty to government orders”, Semyon Tenyaev, founder of TenChat.

The company says TenChat will appeal to anyone where social networks are a tool for self-improvement and goal achievement.

What distinguishes them from other social networks is the “purity” of the community and information space: “We unite the audience around the idea of creating a community of active people from all over Russia, where everyone can be useful to everyone. Therefore, the average TenChat user is someone who wants to grow professionally and achieve their business goals.”

Now, the core of the app’s target audience is men and women aged 25-44, and the main interests of users of the platform are business, finance, legal, marketing and public relations and IT development.

How to use?

TenChat’s interface is reminiscent of classic social networks: the news feed shows posts from both friends (here such connections are called “business contacts”) and users that might potentially be of interest to you.

At the same time, there are no advertising tools in the application yet, but users note that there is a high level of organic traffic.

For example, in a blog on vc.ru one of them says that the average coverage of posts here is consistently above 200%, emphasizing the high activity of customers.

“Although I am only testing one social network, I have five potential clients (customers – Ed.) for content marketing in three weeks,” said Pavel Molyanov.

“Four leads to websites. Two of them went to one-hour consultations,” said Sergey Ananiev.

“I have a very narrow topic – naming (I come up with names for companies and products). There were two tips in 15 days of development, which were two more than freelance sites, either taking a horse commission or paying for a professional account,” Efrem Ant.

Another nice difference between TenChat and other social networks is the tricky algorithm here called “Zeus”.

It is not shown to a wide audience and does not promote clickbait, information gypsy, lifestyle, low quality images.

But it skips to the recommended ones for real work cases, success stories, useful and informative posts.

“We create an open professional and creative community, we do not allow the use of prohibited items, goods and services in the avatar.

We block users for mass following, mass liking or “successful success” content.

Therefore, some users may not like the blocking policy on TenChat,” said TenChat founder Semyon Tenyaev.

How to gain popularity on the site?

“The popularity of a blog on TenChat is not earned through mass following, it can only be gained through author and expert content. TenChat’s “Zeus” feed algorithm only encourages unique information, blocks clickbait headlines, information gypsies, and low-quality images. The main advantage of TenChat for users and creators is the absence of information noise and only the author’s content, which is chosen based on their interests”, Semyon Tenyaev, founder of TenChat.

What’s next?

“TenChat plans to add more functionality to make it easier and more convenient for users to share content and gain an engaged audience. For example, we plan to add brand stories and pages in the near future. We are also planning to bring an advertising locker. Now the Zeus algorithm helps to get coverage organically – filtering yellow headers, information junk and promoting valuable content.

On TenChat, absolutely anyone can get half a million views of a broadcast without a single subscriber, and this is not uncommon.

Quality and professionalism is in everything at the beginning of our nurturing,” says Semyon Tenyaev, founder of TenChat.

Who created it?

According to the National Banking Journal, head of the All-Russian Business Center (VBC) group of companies, the author and founder of the idea for TenChat is Semyon Tenyaev, a Russian IT entrepreneur, investor and the best IT banker of 2020. He held key positions in the treasury of Rosselkhozbank, Moscow Credit Bank and leasing company Center-Capital. In 2016, he created the All-Russian Business Center – an ecosystem for participants in government orders, which has become a leader in the main segments of the e-procurement market. He entered the rating of the top 10 general managers in Moscow.

The development of TenChat started in 2019 with internal mini-services based on the VBC financial market. These were a procurement ecosystem that gathered information on all types of government and commercial acquisitions, bankruptcy tenders, and municipal property, as well as seeking client companies and business verification. The development of TenChat as a social network began in September 2021. Semyon Tenyaev, founder of TenChat, said, “The initial concept was that it was a commercial social network, but then it evolved into the idea of a community of active people.”
