In June, Renault launched a promotion that allows customers who opt for electric mobility and buy an electric or hybrid vehicle, financed with Mobilize Financial Services in the months of June, July and August 2022, to participate in the planting of the forest of the Renault Group in Valladolid, with the collaboration of the Renault Group Spain Foundation and the Natural Heritage Foundation of the Junta de Castilla y León. That day has arrived and today a group of 200 customers and employees of the Renault Group have been responsible for the reforestation of more than 2,500 trees, which, in addition to improving the biodiversity of the area and the establishment of native fauna, allows the inclusion of 12 .5 tons of CO2 per year. This action is part of the Renault Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility policy and contributes to the ambitious environmental challenges the company has announced, such as its commitment to achieve carbon neutrality in Europe by 2040.
The municipality of Pedraja de Portillo has been the chosen place to plant the Renault forest, which will become consisting of 2500 trees and shrubs of native varieties such as oak, stone pine, juniper, willow, elm, blackberry and wild rose, which will allow to transform this area into a place of greater biodiversity, producing 12.5 tons of CO2 per year.
About 200 people, including customers, employees and their families, have been in charge of the execution of this plantation today. The Natural Heritage Foundation technicians first trained all attendees to ensure that the plantation is run properly. The aim was to carry out a quality plantation, with native trees, which not only enhances the diversity of plants in the ravine, but also promotes the existing species of fauna, as the new trees will provide seeds and food for the wild fauna of the ravine. area. .
The team of volunteers has placed a plaque commemorating the activity which reads “This reforestation was carried out by the employees of Renault Group Spain on October 22, 2022”.
This action was launched thanks to the ‘Change to Green’ initiative, by ‘Mobilize Financial Services’, which announced that the Renault group – through its Foundation – would plant a tree for every electric or hybrid vehicle sold between the months of June , July and August to contract any of Mobilize Financial Services’ services.
More than 3,000 Spanish customers have decided to purchase an electric or hybrid vehicle (Renault or Dacia) during the months of June, July and August 2022, and thanks to Mobilize Financial Services, 2,500 of these customers have joined some of the financing options and services adapted to the needs of each customer, offered by the financing company of the Renault Group, namely the number of trees planted.
The planting of the Renault forest is an action that is closely aligned with the Renault Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility strategy, which has the ecological transition as one of the main pillars, as reflected in the commitment to achieve CO2 neutrality in Europe by 2040. and the major efforts to reduce energy consumption, a priority for Renault in Spain. In fact, today 100% of the electrical energy consumed is of renewable origin.
That is why the company is proud that this forest allows the absorption of 12.5 tons of CO2 per year, in addition to the 25 tons of CO2 absorbed per year by the Renault Forest 2021, which was carried out thanks to the Renault Group Spain Foundation in the Cañada Real in Burgos, between the Palencia towns of Tariego de Cerrato and Cevico de la Torre.
