A symbol of Dolce Vita around the world, the new 500 became the ideal companion for the ‘Buongiorno, Dolce Vita’ flash mob organized by the Italian record company CAM Sugar, with the support of SIAE (Società Italiana degli Autori ed Editori) and sponsorship of the Rome Film Festival. The musicians of the Roma Sinfonietta Orchestra shone in the flash mob entitled ‘Buongiorno, Dolce Vita’ in honor of the scores of maestro Nino Rota, and got behind the wheel of the new 500, an electric icon. Thirteen people dressed in tails went to the Trevi Fountain with suitcases of various shapes. When they reached the emblematic fountain, they took out their instruments and performed “La Dolce Vita” for ten magical minutes for a captivated audience.
The new 500 is the iconic model of the Italian Dolce Vita in all its glory. Furthermore, the connection between the New 500 and the melody runs deep: the original song recorded for Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita was rediscovered by Fiat in the CAM Sugar archive and used as the soundtrack for the spot ‘The Driver’ with Leonardo DiCaprio , environmentalist and Oscar winner. In the same archive are masterpieces from film history, such as Nino Rota’s Amarcord music used for the AVAS of the New 500.
The event was also a celebration of Fellini’s masterpiece, which this year celebrates the 60th anniversary of winning the Oscar for Best Costume Design. To celebrate the occasion, CAM Sugar is re-releasing the remastered version for the first time on double vinyl and digital with the collaboration of the heirs of Nino Rota and Federico Fellini.
The month of September confirms the good course of Fiat’s electrification strategy, which strengthens its position in the Spanish market for 100% electric cars. It ended the month in second place in the overall market for 100% electric vehicles (cars + commercial vehicles), with 458 units sold, accounting for a share of 12.4%. The same performance in the car market, with 329 cars registered, which corresponds to a 10% share.
The new electric Fiat 500 is also a crucial model in these results. 1,353 units of this city-oriented car were registered between January and September, making it the second best-selling option in the Spanish 100% electric market. In September, 329 electric Fiat 500s were registered, accounting for 10% of ‘zero emissions’ car sales in Spain.
Likewise, it should be remembered that the Fiat 500 of the third generation will be marketed only with electric motors of more or less power. It is a completely new car, with a specific platform and very few details shared with previous models. Of course the design is still recognizable and it can be clearly seen that it is a cinquecento. The heart of this 500e is an 87 kW (118 hp) electric motor with 220 Nm of torque, which makes us the first to get out of the traffic lights. It has three driving modes (Normal, Range and Sherpa) that adjust power delivery and air conditioning performance based on energy-saving needs.
