5 things from the USSR that are in fashion today

As you know, everything new is a forgotten old. Someone remembers something from the Soviet Union from their own childhood, someone from their parents’ stories or atmospheric nostalgic pictures on Pinterest.

These things are considered symbols of the era and were found in almost every home (or maybe they’re still hiding on your far shelf and awaiting their finest hour), but acquiring some was a real task.

Over the years, their popularity is only increasing. For example, a serviceable Zenith camera is now literally worth its weight in gold, and you can hardly find any old radiograms on the Russian market.

We remember what everyone from the USSR dreamed of then and continues to dream of today.

player

The cassette player in the Soviet Union was among the representatives of the “golden youth”, whose parents could only go on business trips abroad. And this is not an iPod for you that you can take anywhere and keep in your pocket – the players in the USSR were impressive in size and at the same time very heavy.

Today, they are mainly looking for portable CD models (like the one owned by Danila Bagrov), which appeared after the collapse of the USSR. In these, you can still play discs from all artists and take them with you safely.

Tetris

Originally from Russia, a cult game popular all over the world. Only Dendy and Sega were cooler than him. Tetris has been released on a rectangular console where you can choose from different difficulty levels and musical accompaniment. All that had to be done was to get rid of the horizontal rows by reversing the blocks.

Today, the game is no less popular. True, under the current conditions, nevertheless, the Japanese, which was released as an analogue of the Soviet game, gave the palm to Nintendo. Unlike Tetris, Nintendo is still built using the latest market technologies today.

movie camera

Just five years ago, a movie camera was only an attribute of underground and creative youth. While everyone else was showcasing their Polaroid shots, they posted atmospheric photos on social networks that have become symbols of romance and nostalgia for the past. And by 2021 the movie has become a real mainstream!

The older generation wonders why if there’s an iPhone with a much better quality, why would they use older technology? You can’t immediately see what’s going on with these types of cameras. But there is a whole philosophy behind all this, and the film development process has become a veritable ritual for many. Soviet Zenit, Fed, Kyiv and Zorkiy are indispensable classics for film lovers.

Net

Every Soviet person everywhere and always carried a rope bag with him. This mesh bag is handy because it fits easily even in your pocket. Of the shortcomings, only “transparency” – absolutely everyone sees the contents of the bag. But meanwhile, the Soviet people did not indulge in privacy and could not carry “such a thing” in a rope bag.

And in 2018 it literally got a second wind. Then Vetements released the same rope bag for 200 thousand rubles. Almost five years later, the trend does not lose its relevance and takes pride in the wardrobe of a Russian person.

radio

Stylish radios, combining radios, turntables, tape recorders and acoustic systems, were the dream of Soviet music lovers. Since this pleasure was not cheap, it was not possible to see it in every home.

By the way, not much has changed over the years. Now radiograms are no less popular than simple vinyl players. But they also cost 50 thousand rubles and more.
