An American living in the UK was baffled as to why the British have garages in their “living rooms” and choose to park in their gardens instead; met with mixed responses.
There are many things in everyday life that we don’t even recognize because they seem normal to us.
But this American living in the UK is bewildered by some of Britain’s wildest features.

Whenever they come across something in the UK that confuses them, they take their shocking cultural moment and post it on TikTok, and of course the Brits like to have some fun.
In a recent clip that garnered 103,000 views, the American was walking down a street when something caught his attention.
They asked: “Why do the British build garages in their living room but park in the backyard, is that so weird?”
In true British fashion, many people took the comments into consideration to make fun of the American who wondered what was going on behind the garage door.
One person laughed: “Of course we keep all our tea there.”
Another Brit added: “The garage is not for cars, so what does it have to do with the driveway? The garage is used to store tea bags and a permanently boiled kettle.
While a third said, “We just keep things in there. The houses are quite small.
Someone else wrote: “It doesn’t matter to open and close the garage, they prefer to leave.”
Meanwhile, a fifth person gave a more sensible answer: “Because the garages are very small (old houses) and the cars were smaller. There isn’t much room for a car.
However, some Brits have sided with the American and even wondered why no one bothered to park in his garage.
This user shared: “You actually earn a point. I’ve never seen a car in a garage in this country.
A second asked: “I wondered and I’m English.”
And this Brit shared: “Yes, I’m from the UK and some house projects don’t make sense. The garage is mainly used as a storage, the cars are now too big for garages.
