Employees weren’t happy when their boss scolded them for being late for even a minute. Many considered the punishment too extreme.
An office manager was criticized for punishing late employees.
While punctuality is important in the workplace, the one-minute delay penalty seems rather extreme.
The offending poster reads: “New office rule: for every minute you are late for work, you will have to work for 10 minutes after 6pm.
“For example, if you arrive at 10:02, you will have to stay another 20 minutes until 18:20. Thank you.”
On Reddit, a poster showing the “new office rule” went viral and garnered a lot of criticism.
One employee captioned the picture: “Scream the worst place I’ve ever worked (minimum wage of course).”

The post garnered over 70,300 likes and thousands of comments, many of them critical of the boss.
One interviewee wrote: “This looks really silly and highly illegal.”
Another commented: “I would tell them to go fuck themselves.”
A third said: “Do you want to lose employees? Because that’s how employees get lost ”.
A quarter asked brazenly, “If you arrive at 9:58, can you leave at 5:40?”
And another advised: “Be an hour late and make him follow this rule, then take advantage of overtime.”
However, a minority supported the leader and accepted the harsh punishment.
A Reddit user noted: “Honestly, it’s so easy to be on time … like. I get to work 10 minutes early.”
And another agreed: “What if I’m on time? Stop whining. “
