Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence left the crowd yesterday after comparing the replacement of his wife, Princess Anne, to “Miss Harry Kane, the head of the English football team”.

The 67-year-old attended the Founder’s Day Parade at Chelsea Royal Hospital yesterday, while Princess Royal held two other engagements: an afternoon reception for Save the Children at Kensington Palace and a dinner at the Royal Society Club in the evening.

In a rare public address, he made a series of jokes and said: ‘Asking me to replace my wife in an event like this is a bit like asking Harry Kane to run the English football team.

“Or you could take a penalty for England, as your husband did the previous day.”

Sir Tim Laurence left the crowd yesterday after comparing “Miss Harry Kane, the head of the English football team”, to replace his wife, Princess Anne.

The 67-year-old, who was seen with his wife on Trooping the Color, made a series of jokes while making his rare public speech.

The royal continued: “I don’t know Ms. Kane and as far as I know her right foot may be very strong, but I’m sure she would have done her best and so would I.”

He later admitted to being a Tottenham Hotspur fan, adding: “I know it’s a pretty dangerous thing to say here at Chelsea, so I may need a companion when I leave.”

Sir Tim’s remarks left real audiences and attendees online.

And others were equally amused by her, writing “She looks so cute, so funny” and another wrote “She’s so cute”.

The annual Founders’ Day was celebrated in 1681 by King Charles II. Celebrates the founding of the Royal Hospital by Charles.

It is also known as Oak Apple Day because after the Battle of Worcester in 1651, future King II. It commemorates Charles’ escape by hiding in an oak tree to avoid capture by parliamentary soldiers.

Chelsea retirees wear oak leaves on their red uniforms to commemorate him, and on this occasion, World War II in the middle of the courtyard. The statue of Charles is also covered with the same decoration.

Sir Tim is known as a supportive husband to Anne and travels with her on royal duties.

The 67-year-old recently took him to Australia and Papua New Guinea.

His dedication to his work was rewarded by the Queen for allowing him to stand on the Platinum Jubilee balcony with his wife and the rest of the Royal Family, despite not being a working member.
