A rare book about Harry Potter was almost lost due to a freak accident. It was rescued at the last moment before being sent to the landfill.
The print of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”, whose first edition was published and became a rare work coveted by many Potter fans, was left among the belongings of a deceased man. The book was found among the garbage about to be thrown into the landfill.
The publication was discovered by NLB auction house manager Daniel Pierce. “This is our most incredible chance. The family who owned the find was very happy. They did not expect such a development. They need money. At the same time, this book has been sitting on the shelf collecting dust for 20 years,” Pierce shared.
According to the NLB auction house, the cost of the bow is five million rubles, as it is in excellent condition. The first printing of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” was only 500 copies. The fact that this volume was published in the first edition is evident from the misspelling of Philosophy on the back cover of the book. There is no letter “o” in the word.
