The 25-year-old Golden Globe-nominated actor sat down with Pamela Anderson on Actors on Actors as part of Variety’s acclaimed interview series. During the conversation, Mikey explained why Sean Baker did not use a sex scene coordinator during the shooting of his movie.
“The producers offered me a sex scene coordinator if I wanted. Mark Eidelstein, who plays Ivan, and I decided the best thing to do was to do this. My character is a sex worker and I’ve seen Sean’s films and know his commitment to authenticity. I was ready for this. As a player, I approached it like a job,” Mikey said.
During the conversation, the actor also talked about preparing for the role: “It was a character that seemed very far from home in every way. At first it was very scary: How can I empathize with him? I thought I should start small.
