The 7 Most Anticipated Russian Series of 2024 That Everyone Should Watch

There are many movies and series released throughout the year, but not all of them become a topic of discussion long after the premiere. Everyone has different tastes, so even a niche series will find its audience. We decided to highlight five Russian series that will not leave anyone indifferent.


“Outsource”, dir. Dushan Gligorov

Mid-90s. While the authorities are discussing a moratorium on the death penalty, Konstantin (played by Ivan Yankovsky) takes a position as a guard in a private prison. Like the prison doctor, prosecutor and other guards, he is unhappy and resentful. After a conversation with one of the victims, he comes to the conclusion that the victims have the right to personally punish the criminals. Thus, he finds a special way to earn money and to do justice, but soon he himself falls into a “moral trap”.

Suddenly the plan works, but there are too many applicants.

The series is about the legendary pop group of the 90s “Combination”, which made hits such as “Russian Girls”, “American Boy”, “Accountant”, “Cherry Nine”, “Two Pieces of Sausage”. The plot tells how producer Alexander Shishinin (Nikita Kologrivy) found five talented girls from Saratov and made superstars out of them. The main roles were played by Elizaveta Bazykina (vocalist Tatyana Ivanova), Anastasia Ukolova (vocalist Alena Apina), Daria Rudenok (bassist Olga Akhunova), Tatyana Struzhenkova (keyboardist Svetlana Kostyko) and Yulia Kozyulkova (drummer Polina Gukhman).

Lovelace and former popular writer Konstantin Inozemtsev (played by Evgeny Tsyganov) get a chance to get out of debt. The guy is offered to restart a glossy magazine and at the same time continue his career as the editor-in-chief of the publication. He has only one month left to publish the first issue under the new name. He is ready to do anything to complete the work and prove to his beloved what he is worth.

The plot is based on real events, which formed the basis of the script by former Esquire editor-in-chief Sergei Minaev and his brother Dmitry. The series also stars Nadezhda Mikhalkova, Pavel Derevyanko, Ravshana Kurkova, Alexandra Bortich, Ida Galich, Alexandra Rebenok, Igor Vernik, Alexander Tsypkin, Leonid Yarmolnik.

Three local kids, in search of easy money, decide to rob a bank in their small town. When the next morning it turns out that 25 million has been stolen, the question arises among the men who only stole one million: either one of them pocketed the rest of the money, or the more cunning robbers on his “tail” decided to pocket the big jackpot.

After another prank, the son of officer Igor Zorin (Grigory Vernik) is handed over to the police and has only two options: to join the army or to work in the organizing committee of the 1980 Olympics. Choosing the latter, he finds himself under the command of the determined Irina Svetlova (Maria Karpova), the daughter of a general. In principle, he does not intend to keep her as his guardian; after all, the country’s reputation is at stake. Mutual antipathy turns into sympathy, and Zorin intends to make every effort to ensure that the event is held at the highest level.

Even in a hopeless situation, they continue to dream of freedom and try to make their own choice. The series also stars Fyodor Bondarchuk, Nikita Kologrivy and Mark Eidelstein.
