Summer St. Petersburg: where to go for the weekend

In case of uncertainty, just buy a ticket to St. Petersburg. Summer in this city is much better than at other times of the year. Imagine: long white nights, open verandas, warm winds and even especially pleasant rain. It seems that in the summer season St. Petersburg breaks away from the image of a city of constant gloom and becomes the best place for adventure lovers.

In this article, we have prepared a perfect weekend getaway plan to St. Petersburg. If you are still undecided on how to spend your time, use this as a guide around the city.

Wake up with a view – Radisson Sonya

Choosing a place to live in a new city is a matter that must be approached with all responsibility. It is important that everything coincides: comfortable conditions, proximity to the center and, of course, a wonderful view. The Radisson Sonya Hotel is just a five-minute walk from the Summer Garden and a 25-minute walk from the State Hermitage Museum. In the summer months, it offers its guests favorable conditions for accommodation. For example, hotel guests receive a 25% discount at the Metamorphosis restaurant, where dishes are prepared according to Dostoyevsky’s recipes. If you suddenly decide to celebrate your birthday here, you will be offered a 10% discount and a compliment from Radisson Sonya when booking.

Rendezvous with the city – Rene Cafe

Agree, breakfast in a new city should definitely be somewhere with a beautiful view. Rene Cafe on the second floor of Singer House is the most famous restaurant project in St. Petersburg. It is located right opposite the Kazan Cathedral, so try to sit at the tables near the panoramic windows. They get busy as early as nine in the morning, so if possible, come just before they open. The menu includes dishes of Russian-French cuisine, prepared in a modern way. But to be honest, we like breakfast the most here, a generous portion of which is given to porridge, pancakes and, of course, pastries.

Lunch – Zoe

Another holy place on the map of St. Petersburg is the Zoe bakery. The legendary buns are a staple. So when you go to St. Petersburg as a tourist, we definitely recommend you to try them. And if you suddenly run out of time, go to the Moscow branch of the confectionery on Chistye Prudy. The entire range of pastries is on display: there are filled buns, rum baba and custard rings. We warn you right away that it will be difficult to choose just one, but what’s stopping you from parting with a bag full of pastries? Moreover, the design of the takeaway bun boxes is a paradise for every visual person.

St. Petersburg brunch – Charlie

St. Petersburg is definitely different from all other cities in Russia, because such a measured lifestyle still needs to be learned. To feel the rhythm of St. Petersburg, go to the Charlie wine project on the banks of the Griboyedov Canal. We don’t know why, but if a city could be characterized by a restaurant, then St. Petersburg would definitely be here. The project itself is small – it is located on the site of the former Muzgarazh rehearsal space. The menu is definitely a clear food with local products, which is ideal to pair with the wine and sparkling wine collection offered at the establishment.

Have a nice evening – Interior

The main restaurant, which opened in St. Petersburg this year, is called Inner. Everything you see here will make sense: the cutlery holder resembles a polished sea stone, and the name of the restaurant on the table reflects every time you lift a glass of water. The menu features simple but interesting tasting signature combinations. For example, in the duet of burrata and tomato salsa, anchovies are added to the latter, and gnocchi is mixed here with rapana and porcini mushrooms, and try to taste them with every subsequent spoonful. All you have to do is trust your own feelings. And recently, Inner Bakery, a Danish bakery resembling a monastery refectory, opened next to the restaurant. They promise that in the next two years the project will grow into a vast network of two dozen bakeries – at a rapid pace, and this is quite natural.
