Manufacturers began to use a prohibited additive in products to increase weight – microbial transglutaminase, or “meat glue.” This is stated in the latest statements of Rosselkhoznadzor and Rospotrebnadzor. As it turned out, 28 cases have already been recorded in 2024.

By section, “meat glue” is most often found in sausages, sausages, cottage cheese, cheese and yogurt. The additive binds food proteins, shortening the production cycle of the product by 10 times, reducing its cost.
The effect of this substance on the body has not been fully studied. However, there is information that “meat glue” increases the risk of bacterial infections and digestive system diseases. Izvestia reports that products containing this additive are contraindicated for people with weakened immune systems, food allergies, gastrointestinal problems and gluten sensitivity.
