“Clean”, direction. Nikolai Khomeriki

The strongest impression after watching was caused by Nikolai Khomeriki’s erotic drama “Clean” about brothels in the Russian Empire. The project evoked associations with the TV series “Kuprin”. Pit” is based on the works of the classic.
Living in subjection to their cruel mother (Victoria Isakova), the girls sell not only their bodies to men, but also the illusion of “pure” love. Each of them has her own role: an inconsolable widow, an inexperienced high school student, a noble lady. Blonde Stesha (Diana Milyutina), playing the role of a stupid woman, dreamed of becoming a nurse, but is forced to drop her handkerchief every day at the appointed time in order to find a richer client. With her grief, the charming brunette Ksenia dreams of leaving the brothel, but her attempts to meet true love are doomed to failure. The mother sees Ksenia as her successor and not only spoils her, but also punishes her, subjecting the other girls to bloody torture for her crimes. They seem to be trapped in a vicious circle. Do they have the courage to escape captivity?
The series also stars Fyodor Bondarchuk, Daniil Vorobyov, Nikita Kologrivy, Mark Eidelstein, Rinal Mukhametov, Anton Filipenko and others.
“El Ruso”, dir. Sergey Mokritsky

Few people know that there is a community of Russian Old Believers in Argentina, and even fewer people are familiar with their way of life. And if only for the work on ethnographic material, the series, partly shot in Russia and Argentina, is notable. For the sake of the role, Svetlana Ivanova specially learned not only the customs, but also the language of the Old Believers. It is no coincidence that the jury at the pilot festival awarded her the “Best Actress” award. In the story, the hero, a young widow with his son (Nil Bugaev), leaves the community to visit relatives living in the metropolis. Coincidentally, his son becomes the only witness to the murder and so their lives are threatened by a criminal gang. A Russian police officer (Semyon Serzin), who grew up in Argentina, comes to their defense. Feelings unexpectedly arise between him and the Old Believer, but will people from different worlds be able to be together?
“Hard”, direction. Oksana Barkovskaya

How can you start life from scratch if the dark past does not let you go? The creators of the TV series “Difficult”, a spin-off of the “New Girls” project, tried to answer this question. The animation adds to the look, especially in the form of a series with a cartoonish main character that looks atmospheric. Kira Medvedeva played Vlada, a girl whose life will improve after being released from prison. She gets a job at a bar, rises to a managerial position, and also studies at night school. But ghosts of the past have barged into her fragile world; old acquaintances are trying to drag him into unresolved conflicts. A sudden murder makes Vlada a suspect, and now she must prove her innocence at all costs to avoid being taken into captivity again. The series also stars Aristarkh Venes, Gleb Kalyuzhny, Anna Demidova, Anton Pampushny and others.
“He’s So Cool” director. Alexander Domogarov Jr.

An exciting road movie about boys who, on suspicion of murder, are forced to escape, taking with them an unlikely passenger, the autistic Lenya. He was played by Lev Zulkarnaev, who was a favorite not only of the audience, but also of the jury of the “Pilot” festival, which awarded him the “Best Actor” award. This story is about growing up. After all, when traveling, as is often the case, not everything will go as planned. Heroes will need to find a way out of difficult situations, learn responsibility and, of course, meet their first love. The series also stars Denis Prytkov, Valery Stepanov, Evgeny Egorov, Alexey Rozin, Ekaterina Fedulova, Tatyana Dogileva, Igor Khripunov.
“Curious Varvara”, dir. Yuri Korobeinikov

Wes Anderson fans will be delighted. The first thought that came to my mind while watching. Every frame is filled with light, warmth and eye-pleasing details. And yes, as in Moonrise Kingdom, the two main characters here are nine-year-old child prodigy Varya and her peer, rural boy Vasya. They were played by Polina Ainutdinova and Sergei Fedorov. In the story, Varya and her older sister Zoya (Veronika Zhuravleva) come to the village for the summer to visit their grandparents (played by Lyudmila Artemyeva and Viktor Bychkov). Varya, who dreams of becoming a famous detective like her grandfather, occasionally undertakes investigations with her new friend Vasya. After all, even in a quiet village there are many secrets hidden. It is worth saying that a children’s detective story is not the easiest genre, but the creators managed to make the series exciting not only for children but also for adults. It is no coincidence that the project received the main award at the Pilot festival.
