Carl Weathers, known for his roles as Apollo Creed in Rocky and Greef Hag in The Mandalorian, passed away on February 1 at the age of 77. Deadline reports this.
“Karl was an extraordinary man who lived an extraordinary life. He left an indelible mark on generations with his contributions to cinema, television, art and sports and became known worldwide. He was a much-loved brother, father, grandfather, partner and friend,” his family said.
Let’s remember that Karl played Greef Karga, the head of the Bounty Hunters Guild, during the filming of nine episodes of the Star Wars series The Mandalorian. His greatest popularity came from the 1976 film Rocky, after which he was remembered by audiences for his role as boxer Apollo Creed. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series in 2021.
