90-year-old Michael Caine (“Interstallar,” “Batman Begins,” “Jack the Ripper,” “Kingsman: The Secret Service,” “Now You See Me 2”) has retired from acting. His words were reported by People.
“I thought: I had films starring in leading roles, they had excellent reviews… What could beat that? Now I will only be offered roles of 90-year-old people. “Well, maybe 85-year-olds,” he muses.
“There are no 90-year-old main characters, there are young and beautiful boys and girls. That’s why I thought I should leave,” the actor added.
The last movie starring the actor, “The Great Fugitive”, was released in the UK on October 6. The film was directed by Oliver Parker. In the film, Michael Caine played a World War II veteran who escaped from his nursing home to attend the anniversary of the Normandy landings.
The actor appeared in more than a hundred feature films and won three Oscars: for Best Supporting Actor in The Cider House Rules and Hannah and Her Sisters (as well as three Golden Globes).
