Modern man – smartphone application: how did the mobile phone change our life?

On April 3, the cell phone turns 50. We can say that in the past years he has enslaved the world, because without it it is impossible to imagine any sphere of activity. Cell phones are literally everywhere, they change our lives and make a lot of things easier, but they are a pretty dangerous toy.

An entire world is gathered in one tiny device that can affect our health, mood, and perception of reality. And there is no denying the fact that many people today have become overly addicted to gadgets.

For the anniversary of the irreplaceable device, the editors of The Fashion Vibes got together to talk about how it has changed our lives in these 50 years.

How has the smartphone influenced beauty, fashion and travel?

fashion industry

Cristina Constantinou, fashion editor of The Fashion Vibes:

“The link between fashion and technology is inseparable. Remember at least the 1999 Alexander McQueen show and the incredibly beautiful dance with robots. Or Coperni’s latest show featuring Boston Dynamics robots. But today we will talk about technologies that are available to everyone. Namely – about phones and smartphones. In the 2000s, when the digital age was just beginning, phones were the most fashionable accessory (thanks to Paris Hilton and other style icons of the time), covered in rhinestones, stickers and engravings.
After a while, the age of smartphones began and a whole new page was opened in the fashion world. Firstly, it was thanks to them that fashion bloggers appeared, who began to publish their images. Secondly, thanks to smartphones, the fashion industry has started to accelerate in terms of trends. If before, only designers and glossy magazines asked, now anyone with a smartphone can.”

beauty and health

The Fashion Vibes beauty editor Katya Lando:

“Smartphones have brought not only convenience to our lives, but also new challenges. It directly affected our body. Concepts such as the tech neck (constant use of a device that occurs when the head is tilted 45 degrees and the neck flexed), HEV radiation (blue light from screens) and digital aging caused by it have emerged. All this is the inevitable result of regular use of smartphones. And here we immediately recall the project of the Free Forwarding company, which shows what the man of the future will look like. Due to the use of tools, he will have a hunched back, a constantly bent neck (it seems narrower) and fingers adapted to their main function – holding a smartphone.

Food and travel

Yulia Ivanova, The Fashion Vibes food and travel editor:

“Perhaps the gastronomic industry is the last thing that has been significantly affected in some way by the development of phones. Of course, you have to take a photo of a meal before you eat it.

Also, most new establishments are opening up using traditional paper menus, receipts, and even tip envelopes. Almost every trending restaurant has been using QR codes for a long time. Point your phone’s camera and – wow! – A huge selection of dishes, a KBJU table and even a small biography of the waiter on your phone.

But the most important thing worth mentioning is their food delivery service, which can now be ordered anywhere in just a few minutes. It’s hard to imagine that in the past you had to call the restaurant yourself to eat your favorite pizza and go even in the worst case.

But in the field of tourism, the mobile phone has made huge adjustments. Imagine for a moment how difficult it is to navigate in an unfamiliar city without a navigator, taxi applications and other useful programs. The thought that one day I will find myself at a crossroads in the Taganskaya district without an online map now gives me panic.

Today, you do not need to come to the airport or train station for a ticket by contacting travel agencies to plan a trip. Just get a few apps that will save you unnecessary trouble and help you book your itinerary quickly.”

6 signs of cell phone addiction

Many people, especially young people, see an expensive smartphone as a sign of “coolness”, wealth and high status in society. The gadget is credited with increased value. If a person has a cheap phone, he begins to worry about it, quickly trying to buy a new model, even if it takes a long time to save up or spend the last money on it.

When a person loses or forgets their mobile phone and is unable to use it, their mood can change dramatically. Sometimes in such situations there is inexplicable aggression. And vice versa, the owner, entering a smartphone, feels happy.

As with any other addiction, very active smartphone users need an increased “dose”. They tend to spend more time online without noticing what’s going on around them. Gradually, the soul is no longer satisfied with the emotions it receives, there is a need for more vivid impressions and the “immersion effect” in virtual reality.

Fear of being without a device has a special name – nomophobia. The term was coined in 2010 when a study was conducted by YouGov (a British company that does sociology and marketing research in many countries around the world). – note. ed.), examines the anxiety experienced by smartphone owners. As it turned out, half of men and women have a fear of losing a gadget.

For many, being without a phone means losing control of life. Some people, especially young people, believe that without a tool they won’t attract the attention of their friends and lose their reputation among their peers.

Nomophobia is manifested by increased anxiety. A person constantly picks up the phone and checks for its presence at this time. Many people are really worried even if they leave the device at home.

If a person spends most of his time on the smartphone, then his relatives, friends become less important to him, he receives less attention. Therefore, conflicts may arise within the family.

Sometimes the owner of the phone does not understand what he wants. The gadget catches him so much that reality fades into the background. An inner conflict arises in a person. On the one hand, he can understand that it is an addiction. But on the other hand, he does not know how to deal with it, especially if a smartphone is necessary for work.

Some people try to pull themselves together and limit the time they use the gadget. However, if the addiction is strong, relapse is possible. A person “breaks down” and dives back into swiping, chatting on instant messengers or watching videos.
