An Australian mom has wowed thousands with her incredible DIY camper van transformation.
Kristy Todd spent seven weeks using $2,000 worth of equipment and made 32 trips to Bunnings to transform a dilapidated old trailer she bought for $1,600 into a stylish traveler’s retreat.
The handy mom shared her beautiful trailer, inspiration, tips, tricks and tricks with bunk beds, compact bathroom, kitchenette and dining table that converts to a double bed in a post on the Moms Bunnings Facebook page.

Kristy from Adelaide and her husband Jay removed one of the old bunk beds to create a small half-bath with an electric toilet and floating sink.
Weight was an important factor during the renovation, and the couple ensured that the weight of the materials used for the new bathroom matched the weight of the bunk bed being removed.
“If you look closely, you’ll notice that we’re not removing the kitchen or other structures, we’re just restoring them, so all the weights stay the same,” Kristy said.
The stylish camper van, named Kristy’s Penny, received a fresh coat of white paint, plush black hardware, and sleek wood floors.

He told FEMAIL: “Know what you want to achieve and plan ahead and be prepared that nothing is flat or even with an old trailer, measure seven times before you cut it.”

The kitchen has a microwave, mini fridge, plenty of storage and a stylish splash guard with stamped metal accents.
Kristy reupholstered the dining room and outfitted the van with faux hanging plants and luxe upholstery.
“The most important piece of advice I can give you is to know what you want to achieve and plan ahead,” he told FEMAIL.
“And with an old caravan like this, be prepared that nothing is right to start with, or even to measure seven times before cutting.”
Kristy plans to put the trailer up for sale in Adelaide in the coming weeks.


Kristy reupholstered the dining cabin and van accessories with faux hanging plants, luxury trim.
The thrifty mom’s post received more than 3,700 “likes” and hundreds of impressive comments from other group members.
‘Oh, such a transformation. You must be very proud of yourself. I want to buy and renovate an old caravan, ”wrote one woman.
‘Wow, she’s so beautiful… so good! It’s a lot in such a small space, but it works, and it’s beautiful,” he said for a second, and a third said, “This is a beautiful little house on wheels.”
