Harry and Meghan hire PR Guru who re-elected Obama

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have hired the public relations guru who helped get Barack Obama re-elected in the latest hint that the couple may have political ambitions.

Miranda Barbot, who was part of the team behind Obama’s 2012 reelection, was hired by the Sussexes in hopes of “changing their image”.

An insider told Mirror: “There are tons of Clintons and even Kennedys. It wouldn’t be a big shock now if Meghan enters politics.”

Miss Barbot was a 19-year-old college student when the Obama team won a scholarship.

According to sources, he has now left the American public relations agency BerlinRosen and started working for the Sussex firm Archewell.

It was also reported that Harry and Meghan were spotted on the team during the Invictus Games in the Netherlands.

Ms. Barbot was mentioned as a “key person” on Harry and Meghan’s team and was described as a “smart operator” by one source.

They added that Ms. Barbot has “a lot of experience” in helping them adjust to their lives outside the royal family.

On Twitter, Ms. Barbot’s bio says she’s “from New York and drinks cold coffee all year.”

It came just days after it was revealed that the couple was being protected by a former Obama bodyguard.

Harry and Meghan faced countless arguments that tarnished their image.

This includes an interview with Oprah Winfrey last year in which Meghan claimed an unnamed royal was racist.

Although the Sussexes never declared their political allegiance, they were accused of “interfering” in British and American politics after stepping back as “senior royal”.

In October, Meghan allegedly lobbied for paid parental leave using “the tactics of an aspiring politician”.

Using the Sussex Chancellery, she wrote a letter to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Shumer about paid family leave.

Meghan also urged Republican senators to encourage them to vote in favor of the plans. She introduced herself as the Duchess of Sussex on cold calls.

The Obamas have a longstanding relationship with Harry, and they bonded with him during the Invictus Games in 2016, where they starred in a video with the prince and queen who promoted him.

The following year, Harry interviewed Barack in Toronto for a guest editorial on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, where they discussed the risks of social media and the disruption of public debate.

Meghan also wanted to attend Michelle’s speech at London’s Southbank Center in December 2018 with the two women who will later meet backstage for a “power match” to discuss their shared passion for girls’ education.

The Sussexes followed a similar path to the Obamas after leaving real life, signing a multi-million dollar deal with Netflix and Spotify to produce their own documentary and podcast series.

Harry also signed a lucrative four-book deal with publisher Penguin Random House, which Obama used for his memoir, A Promised Land, last November. In 2018, Michelle published her Becoming life story.
