Oasis singer Liam Gallagher has engaged in a social media row with former Coronation Street actor Charlie Lawson after the soap star described the rock group as distinctly average on Monday.
The online exchange began when Lawson, 67, who played Jim McDonald in the long running ITV soap opera Coronation Street, responded to a prompt on X asking whether Oasis were overhyped or one of the best bands in the world. The post asked users: "Alright, no sitting on the fence. Do you think Oasis are over hyped... or are they genuinely one of the best bands the world has ever seen?"
Lawson described the band as "average", leading Gallagher to criticize Lawson's acting skills by posting: "Like your f***ing acting skills."
Lawson replied to Gallagher: "Hello darling!? You still taking a line in town?". Gallagher then doubled down on his comments while replying to another user who asked what Lawson had acted in, writing: "Actor in his f***ing dreams".
Lawson responded by posting a video clip of David Byrne from Talking Heads, calling the American group his favourite band in the 1980s and 1990s.

Gallagher is well known for his active presence on X, but fans expressed surprise at the unexpected feud between the musician and the actor.

Gallagher defended the tour ticket prices and joked that the band should "cancel the whole thing" following fan backlash. After telling fans to "stop moaning" on the first day of ticket sales, Gallagher published multiple tweets on Saturday.

When another user commented that it must be nice to be Liam Gallagher, the singer replied: "It's ok when I'm not being bullied about codes or being called mean names coz apparently the tickets are expensive."
Addressing fans who reported feeling stressed while buying tickets, Gallagher wrote: "I know but what can I do this is the fairest way to do things so I've been told I'm getting stressed out now coz your getting stressed it's not on. Stressification for the nation." When a fan insisted he should be stressed out, Gallagher sarcastically replied: "That's mean of you I'll tell you what let's just cancel the whole god damn thing."

The Oasis Live 27 tour features 42 concerts across Scotland, England, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, France, Italy, the United States and Ireland. UK ticket sales take place across three days ending on Sunday, featuring three selling windows each day.
High demand prompted the band to add four extra concert dates, including two shows at Knebworth on September 25 and September 26. Knebworth is where Oasis famously performed to more than 100,000 fans per night during two legendary concerts in August 1996.
The band released an official statement warning fans against potential scams: "Important: We have been made aware of possible Oasis ticket scams. As ticket information and unique codes are about to be distributed, please remain vigilant. Scammers may attempt to impersonate Oasis, our mailing list or our ticket partners. Please do not accept a code that is not sent by [email protected]."
The upcoming tour follows last year's Live 25 reunion tour, which sold out in minutes and generated more than £293 million in revenue according to Forbes estimates. The reunion ended a long feud between brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher following their 2009 breakup after a backstage brawl at the Rock en Seine festival in France.
Oasis previously faced criticism over dynamic pricing during their 2025 reunion tour, when demand-based pricing caused standard ticket costs to double from £148 to £355. A Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) investigation found no evidence that dynamic pricing was used during the tour, but stated that organizers risked giving consumers the misleading impression that platinum tickets were superior. The CMA instructed Ticketmaster to modify ticket labeling and pricing disclosure.
