It’s not quite the Christmas spirit we’re used to, but there’s still something magical about the story. This Thursday 22nd December it was auctioned for the modest sum of 100,000 New Zealand dollars (about €60,000). The British newspaper The Guardian indicates that the proceeds from the sale go towards prostate cancer research.
“Arrogant Fuck”
It all started on December 13th. After a tough exchange in Parliament between Jacinda Arden and David Seymourleader of Liberal Act, a small opposition party, the prime minister sat muttering that his opponent was a ” arrogant asshole », unaware that his mic was still on. David Seymour demanded an apology from the Speaker of the House, thus causing the transcription of the words of the head of government in the minutes of the parliamentary session. Jacinda Arden has since apologized and everything is back to normal.
“For Assholes Around the World”
Two days later, David Seymour had the idea of putting this joke up for sale for the benefit of a “great cause”. “After laughing it off, Jacinda Ardern and I will auction off a signed copy of Hansard (official record) calling me an ‘arrogant asshole’ to raise money for assholes around the world from a great cause, the Prostate Cancer Foundation »he posted on Twitter.
After we had a laugh, Jacinda Ardern and I are going to auction off a signed copy of the Hansard (official ledger) in which she calls me an “arrogant prick” to raise money for pricks everywhere, a great cause, the Prostate Cancer Foundation. https://t.co/6QJ0bV73Zc pic.twitter.com/5FzIzqUiQf

Julian Shorten, 68-year-old vet and proud owner of this signed parliamentary session, told New Zealand media what’s this who initially wanted to buy a yacht, but that his partner, Gail, “was not enthusiastic about this idea”. However, her purchase has enchanted the main interested parties, even if Jacinda Arden confided on Instagram that she did not expect similar repercussions. “I thank David for being a great player and everyone who made an offer. And Merry Christmas everyone! »said the Prime Minister.
