Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer insists that a new installment of the Margot Robbie series is still in production, although the actress says otherwise.
In November, Margot told Vanity Fair that a new Pirates of the Caribbean story was in development, featuring a woman “who we thought was really cool but didn’t seem to want to do it”, citing the Disney studio. She launched the franchise in 2003.

But Bruckheimer made sure in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that the project with Robbie is still “alive.” According to the producer, they are developing two different Pirates of the Caribbean movies, “one with Margot Robbie and the other with a younger cast.” “The Margot Robbie project needs some more work. The young cast is close. I hope we get both,” Bruckheimer said.
When asked about Robbie’s final words about the project’s failure, the producer replied, “For me, he lives. He lives for Disney.”

“I’m sure he was disappointed that he didn’t go first—or because he was too busy, so it might be good to push a little,” Bruckheimer said.
“We believe we will be successful. It’s a very powerful story,” the producer added.
