The Paul Pelosi forward also said he wants to attack Tom Hanks, Hunter Biden and Gavin Newsom

David DePape, who is accused of assaulting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul Pelosi, at their San Francisco home in October, told police he also planned to assault a list of other public figures, including actor Tom Hanks, Hunter Biden and California’s governor. Gavin Newsom.

The revelation came Wednesday during a preliminary hearing for DePape. According to the Associated Press, Lt. Carla Hurley testified that during an hour-long interview with DePape after he was arrested at the Pelosis home, he mentioned other people he wanted to pursue, including Hanks, Biden and Newsom. According to court documents, DePape told authorities that when he broke into Pelosi’s home on Oct. 28, he was looking for the Speaker of the House, but she was in Washington at the time and threatened her husband instead.

DePape has pleaded not guilty to a number of federal and state charges, including attempted kidnapping of a federal official or employee and assault of a close relative of a federal official.

It was not clear why DePape wanted to target the other public figures, but he reportedly embraced a number of conspiracy theories. According to Hurley, DePape told her during the interview, “There is evil in Washington, what they did went so far beyond the campaign.”

Paul Pelosi suffered serious head injuries and injuries to his hand after DePape hit him with a hammer after authorities arrived at the home, police said.

The Peloses were in Washington on Thursday to unveil the official portrait of Nancy Pelose. Earlier this month, Paul Pelosi made his first public appearance since the attack when he attended the Kennedy Center Honors ceremonies with his wife. One of Pelosi’s children, Christine Pelosi, was at the hearing in San Francisco Superior Court.

Prosecutors also played Paul Pelosi’s 911 call and showed video of the hammer attack caught on police cameras.

According to the Associated Press, San Francisco Police Officer Kyle Cagney told the court that DePape and Pelosi were holding the hammer when he and other officers arrived. DePape refused orders to drop the tool and hit Pelosi with it, he said.

Cagney’s testimony is consistent with the details in the DePape indictment. According to the document, officers from the San Francisco Police Department arrived at 2:31 a.m. and an officer knocked on the front door.

“When the door was opened, Pelosi and DePape both held hammers in one hand and DePape held Pelosi’s forearm in the other hand,” the indictment states. “Pelosi greeted the officers. The officers asked what was going on. DePape replied that everything was fine. Officers then ordered Pelosi and DePape to drop the gavel.”

DePape pulled the hammer from Pelosi’s hand and swung the hammer, hitting Pelosi in the head. Officers immediately went in and were able to restrain DePape. As officers detained DePape, Pelosi appeared to be unconscious on the floor.”

According to the indictment, the suspect told police that he entered the home through a glass door.

DePape told police he had “no intention of surrendering and would get past Pelosi.”

“DePape claimed that he pulled the gavel away from Pelosi and swung the gavel at Pelosi,” the complaint states. “DePape explained that Pelosi’s actions resulted in Pelosi ‘taking the punishment instead.'”
