Harry & Meghan: How Much Is Netflix’s Sussex Documentary Really Worth?

Harry & Meghan: How Much Is Netflix’s Sussex Documentary Really Worth?

The first three episodes of the docuseries dedicated to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are available on Netflix and we watched them as quickly as we baked a cheddar cheese scone.

The crown I already miss you? Well, we have the solution ready to fill the void: the docuseries of the most captivating royal couple of recent years: Meghan and Harry or rather, as they define themselves: H&M. And yes.

Harry and Meghan, the quickly addictive docuseries

Each episode, which lasts from 55 to 60 minutes, keeps you in suspense when in reality everyone knows (or almost) the story by heart. Not exactly spoilers here, you only need to have followed their life in the tabloids of varying degrees of light to know that the couple was in full swing from the get-go. But this time, in these three (long) episodes, we have their version, all embellished with personal photos revealed by the couple, testimonials facial camera worthy of any good Instagram influencer, against a backdrop of tearjerker music.

We can see Meghan crying because what she’s been through since being with Harry isn’t easy. We can understand and support Harry getting angry at the paparazzi stalking his wife. We can even cry with him when she talks about his late mother… Clearly, we seem to be having tea with them and female dog about the royal family who, according to them, mistreated them.

Under the bottom of love story epic, which couldn’t be more banal and Gniangnian if it didn’t concern the richest family in the world, we discover, deposited drop by drop, crunchy little details about Reala bit like being invited to Sandringham for the holidays with the Queen (RIP) and the drunk cousins who tell us their family gossip and secrets at the end of the evening, after various Gin and Tonics.

Harry and Meghan, the docu that made a lot of ink flow for a little while

If we certainly learn something more about their version of events, or how they met, how and why they decided to hide their relationship for as long as possible, retracing the childhood of one and the other (what was a long time to see), we finally know little behind the scenes of the scandals that have befallen them.

Harry and Meghan check the story from A to Z, which makes sense since the documentary is produced by Archewell Productions, M&H’s production company. It’s “normal” to not really have counterpoints to their observations, it would be too easy otherwise. But for viewers it is quickly frustrating, and one gets the impression of soon being in an episode of Life my life pimped in American sauce, with form, but no substance. A big promotion for them, a nice highlight well done, but a profound bore for those who watch them listen to each other talk.

No, in this docu-series, Meghan and Harry show what they want to show, talk about what suits them, drive the story and bring viewers into their lives, which want to be simple and relaxed, a bit like Mr. Lady All , the weight (and finances) of royalties and more.

Is the royal family racist?

An interesting part is however to be noted in this documentary, the one on racism and the treatment of their story by the British media. Clearly, some forgot to drink herbal tea and roll their tongue 7 times before speaking about the Duchess, as seen in the documentary with supporting archival photos.

An entire passage on British colonialism is uplifting and sets the record straight, pretty effectively nailing the beak of everyone who bragged about saying they weren’t racist, when well, it smelled like good fachosphere full nose, at Meghan’s slightest appearance in space public.

Finally, for these first three episodes, we don’t learn much, but we still want to find out the rest. The new king and queen of the Netflix docu-series even showered us with a video that already has our feet tapping in anticipation. We already know that the next three (and final) episodes will focus on the famous megxit — the wording used by the tabloids to talk about the couple’s departure for the USA — and the birth of their children, Archie and Lilibet.

Strangely (no), we can’t wait until Thursday for this news tea time !
