Taylor Swift is entering cinema as a director

While break all records with Midnighther album released on October 21, Taylor Swift sets out to conquer a new art: the cinema. At 32, the superstar will direct his first film.

A contract with a stellar studio

Taylor Swift has it made history recently with Midnight : these are not less than ten tracks of his tenth album that rose it topped the Billboard Hot 100. Thus, after having conquered the world of music, the star faces that of the seventh art.

Taylor Swift is going behind the cameraas reported by Searchlight Pictures, the studio that produced such popular films as Little Miss Sunshine, The millionaire from the slums, Juno or black Swan. Taylor Swift will sign the realization but also the script of this feature film, of which we still don’t know much. No names of actors, actresses, synopsis or release date have been announced yet.

Already acclaimed for her first short film

Following the announcement of the partnership, the studio expressed its excitement in a statement signed by Searchlight Pictures presidents David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield:

“Taylor is an artist and a storyteller one of a kind. It is a true joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting new creative journey. »

If Taylor Swift is already proficient in the art of storytelling with a camera, it’s because she’s already written and directed a clip that looks like a short film that won everything at the MTV Video Music Awards. All too well: the short film was awarded for Best Video and Best Long Form Video at the prestigious November ceremony. The movie is even eligible for Oscar nomination in the best short film category.
