Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz

After the wedding with the billionaire daughter Nicola Peltz, Brooklyn Beckham violated the generally accepted traditions – she took a double surname. The newlyweds renamed themselves on social networks: now both surnames are Peltz Beckham.

While the decision surprised many Brooklyn fans, it also gained support in some quarters – it was seen as a violation of “sexist traditions.” Traditionally, she is the woman who should take her husband’s surname after marriage. As family lawyer Amy Foweser put it in an interview with The Guardian, this means that after marriage, the woman becomes the “property” of the husband. However, the violation of this tradition in the society is not welcomed and even condemned.

– said Rachel Robnett, a professor at the University of Nevada.

She added that friends and acquaintances of the man who took the double surname often viewed him as the least authoritative in a relationship, and that their wives were pressured by their husbands to refuse to take the surname.

Brooklyn decided to take a double surname as a sign of his love for his wife.

– He told the insider edition of The Sun.

Brooklyn fans realized that not everyone reacted with understanding to his decision. His mother, Victoria Beckham, commented under one of the wedding photos: This gave subscribers reason to suspect that Victoria did not approve of her son’s decision, and some even suggested that he was against this marriage.

Brooklyn and Nicola have been preparing for the wedding for several years, having signed a prenuptial agreement before the wedding.
