It is a significant event in the history of comics, and we owe it to the work of a woman. The author and cartoonist Catherine Meurice has been “installed” at the Academy of Fine Arts. It is the first time ever that the Ninth Art is represented within the prestigious Academy.

For 42 years old (an age below the average of her colleagues!), Catherine Meurice officially enters comics at one of the five Academies of the Institut de France, whose goal is to “support creation”. The author had a status of pioneer from 2005year in which she had become the first woman ever to serve on the editorial board of Charlie Hebdo.
