It’s not even officially December yet and it’s already time for budgets for the fashion industry, which is always one step ahead (this is the advantage when you’re cyclical). Like every year, the mega e-commerce site Lyst (which collects many eshops and data from its 200 million users) has just drawn from its data a balance sheet of the strong trends of 2022. And it may be interesting to deepen it to trace a sort aesthetic snapshot of the time (actually more representative of fashion enthusiasts than mere mortals).
Miu Miu named the most searched brand of the year by Lyst
As a result, Miu Miu emerges as the most desirable brand of 2022. It is no wonder given how much the maison’s spring-summer 2022 show (which took place in October 2021) artistically directed by Miuccia Prada marked the competition and the social . So much so that many brands have released their version of the shirt, the Irish sweater and the miniskirt roughly cut with scissors, while the fans have indulged in the DIY versions. According to Lyst, this very #Y2K look would have been searched nearly 900 times a day during the first quarter of 2022. After this show, the brand did not rest on its laurels and declined its idea, while contributing to other trends: the flat (#balletcore) and the faded leather biker jacket (#bikercore).
Birkenstock, barbiecore, Coperni and Bella Hadid represent 2022 from the fashion side
But it is Miu Miu’s older sister, the Prada brand, that wins the title of it-bag of the year: the Re-Nylon Re-Edition 2000 bag. Y2K, we tell you!
In a completely different vibe, the Boston clog from Birkenstock establishes itself as the most sought-after shoe of the year.
Jacquemus x Nike represent the most surprising collaboration of 2022.
Barbiecore would be the most influential trend.
The most influential style icon would be Bella Hadid.
And Coperni signs the most viral fashion moment of the year (with the famous dress sprayed on Bella Hadid, of course).
If all this may seem obvious to fashionistas, it really isn’t for mere mortals, and it may even seem totally disconnected from reality. A sign that fashion remains a planet apart.
