Why you shouldn’t go out with wet hair in winter

While it’s often advisable to let your hair air dry, going out with wet hair in cold weather can have consequences other than catching a cold.

We know it: abusing heating devices to shape and style hair can significantly weaken the lengths. Letting it air dry might seem like a good solution then (although it’s actually not that simple), but if there’s a time when you need to avoid pulling your freshly squeezed hair out, that’s fine in winter. And no, it has nothing to do with the risk of getting sick!

The trichologist Angela Onuoha explains it to the magazine Refinery 29 :

I try to avoid letting my hair air dry. Not only does it take forever to dry, but it also keeps your hair in its most fragile state, putting it at greater risk of damage.

And that’s not all! Going out with wet hair in cold weather can literally freeze your hair and break it.

For the health of your hair, it’s best to take the time to pre-dry it with a microfiber towel, apply a heat protectant product and then blow dry it on low heat. Yes, it’s longer, but your lengths will thank you. And to protect her hair from the cold and humidity of winter, the pro recommends investing in a silk or satin-lined hat or bonnet. Elegant and useful.
