This is the kind of event that promises to be so complicated from a security protocol perspective that it seems impossible. However, the granddaughter of the current US president, Naomi Biden, married fiancé Peter Neal inside the same White House, on Nov. 19, 2022. And of course, vogue compiled an exclusive report.

All the details of Naomi Biden’s wedding in the White House
She is 28, he is 25, and they share the same profession: lawyer, but in different firms. They met in June 2018 through a friend (bridesmaid at the ceremony). Three years later, Peter proposed to her in his hometown of Jackson Hole, Wyoming with an emerald-cut diamond set in his grandmother’s gold ring. Naomi Biden and her boyfriend have therefore just got married in front of an audience of 250 guests, including families and friends, in the presidential residence, as Jill and Joe Biden’s niece explains to the American Fashion Bible:
“We’re so close to our families, so we always knew we’d get married in someone’s backyard. I think if my grandfather hadn’t been president, he probably would have been in their home in Wilmington or in Peter’s family backyard in Jackson. [Wyoming]. »
The president’s granddaughter wore 3 different wedding dresses
For the occasion, Naomi Biden wore a Chantilly lace dress by Ralph Lauren with a high neck and long sleeves. Sweet peas and lily of the valley made up her bouquet. She walked into the arm of her parents, Hunter Biden and Kathleen Buhle, as a string quartet played The Verve’s “Bitter Sweet Symphony.” Her husband wore a navy blue Ralph Lauren three-piece suit. He couldn’t have been more American than this ceremony at the White House.

Even the mini dress that the young bride wore to end the evening was designed by a young stylist in sight in the United States: Alexandra O’Neill who founded her brand, Markarian in 2017 (she dressed Lena Mahfouf at the 2022 Met Gala, for example). Shortly before, she had opted for a transitional dress by Reem Acra (a designer of Lebanese origin who Jill Biden often wears, especially for her wedding and on the cover of the vogue dedicated): an ivory silk bustier creation with pearls by the other grandmother, Roberta Buhle, sewn along the two-metre train.

In case you were wondering: This isn’t the first wedding to be held at the White House. Since 1800 there have already been 19, as well as four receptions, including one for President Grover Cleveland, and 9 for the first daughters, reports Vogue. Naomi Biden is the first granddaughter to be married at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

But getting married in such a historic and highly political place requires compliance with a security protocol that has not been made public. Naomi Biden just let it slip that she had to ask all her guests for their social security numbers. We can’t even imagine the logistical headache that must have been, but long live the newlyweds! We can also note the communication operation that such a marriage can represent for the sympathy capital of the presidential couple in power.
