Tulsi Gabbard, the former congresswoman who recently announced she is leaving the Democratic Party, is joining Fox News as a paid staff member.
A Fox News spokesperson confirmed the lease, which was initially reported Los Angeles Times.
Gabbard filled in for Tucker Carlson on Monday night’s primetime show. She has also appeared as a guest on his show and other Fox News programs.
Gabbard ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in the 2020 cycle, running for re-election to a congressional seat in Hawaii. She criticizes the party for being “an elite cabal of warmongers”. Last month, Sean Hannity called on her to support aid to Ukraine during last February’s Russian invasion. Gabbard also met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in 2017 and drew criticism for the US’s lack of diplomatic ties with the leader, whom other lawmakers have labeled a war criminal.
Gabbard also has a podcast where she includes many right-wing talking points about “woke”ism and canceled culture. She also supported a number of Republican candidates in the recent midterm elections, including Kari Lake, who lost her run for governor of Arizona.
Gabbard, an Army Reserve officer, was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012 after serving on the Honolulu City Council and the state House of Representatives.
