By Guillermo del Toro, Pinocchio is an animated stop-motion movie that recreates the classic story of the legendary wooden boy. In it, Pinocchio finds himself on a magical adventure that transcends worlds and unleashes the life-giving power of love.

In a recent interview, Guillermo talked about how attached he was to Pinocchio when he first saw the movie as a kid: “It impressed me because Pinocchio saw the world the way I see it,” Guillermo explained. “I was a little annoyed that people were demanding obedience from Pinocchio, so I wanted to make a movie about disobedience as a virtue and say that you don’t have to change to be loved.”
Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio will be released on Netflix on December 9. It stars Gregory Mann, Ewan McGregor, David Bradley, Tilda Swinton, Christoph Waltz, Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson and Burn Gorman.
