Broadway extends audience masking through May, but most venues will end the vaccine’s mandate

The Broadway League announced that while the owners and operators of the 41 Broadway venues require viewers to cover themselves by at least May 31, many theaters will no longer check their vaccination status after April 30.

Charlotte St. Martin, president of the Broadway League, said: “After the resumption of performances last fall, more than five million people attended the Broadway show and the safety of our cast, crew and audience was our top priority. … Our goal is to keep this hearing a safe record for all by maintaining strict hearing masks, at least throughout the month of May. And, of course, we urge everyone to get vaccinated.

As of Friday, most Broadway theater owners announced they would be lifting vaccination requirements by May 1, including the Shubert Organization, the Nederlander Organization, Disney Theatrical Productions, and Circle in Square.
