A guide to fashionable outerwear this winter: coats, bright colors and fur coats

The temperature outside the window and the number on the calendar show that “winter is coming” in full force. Therefore, if you have not yet begun to prepare for the cold season, we recommend that you urgently correct the situation. We have already told how to create a basic wardrobe for the next four months, now it’s time to deal with fashionable outerwear options.

Designers rely on maxi coats, voluminous down jackets, sheepskin coats and faux fur coats. And street style heroes and fashion trendsetters are already walking on trend models and showing us bold style techniques. For example, we recommend wearing classic coats with oversized sweatshirts, baggy jeans and rough boots. However, down jackets can be combined with cargo skirts and lace-up boots.

This season, designers and influencers invite us to pay attention to extra long coats. Here’s what we saw at the last Saint Laurent show, The Row fall-winter lookbook, and of course, the just-mentioned brand’s founder, Mary-Kate Olsen. It is best to choose models of men’s cut and act on the principle “the longer – the better.” By the way, do not think that such a trend is contraindicated for short girls – take a look at Kim Kardashian and be sure of the opposite.

By 2022, almost all major players in the fashion industry have decided to abandon the use of natural fur in favor of artificial. Therefore, we are now seeing more and more images that say “no animals were harmed” in their latest fall-winter collections. Our favorites are the Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Blumarine, Saint Laurent, Balmain and Off-White fur coats. You can use this trendy product not only with dresses and feminine skirts, but also with loose jeans or cargo pants.

Who said bombers can’t be worn in winter? Even better if you choose insulated options (and preferably several sizes larger). Check out how the Prada bomber looks great on Kendall Jenner. They say fashion and cold are incompatible things. To everyone who thinks the same, we want to tell you about the next trendy thing – a sheepskin coat. This outfit will easily save you from the uncomfortable heat on the street and will not force you to compromise on style. In the autumn-winter collections, excellent fur coats were seen in the Coach, Dion Lee and Ambush fashion shows, as well as in Sandro and Eytys travel books.

Do you think plush fur coats and coats are left behind in 2018? Well, we will try to convince you otherwise. More precisely, not us, but the creative directors of Max Mara, Rokh, Chloe, Isabel Marant and Christian Dior. Street style heroes join the “arguments” of the design studio. They suggest wearing plush coats along with over-the-knee boots, knit dresses or suit pants, and turtleneck sweaters.

Wear a down jacket with loose, low-rise jeans and rough boots, and don’t forget cargo pants and maxi skirts.

Another obvious trend in winter is the cage. This classic print appears in the collections of brands from season to season, adapting to current trends. Therefore, if you are not a fan of monochrome images, we recommend that you take a closer look at plaid coats. For the winter season, you can choose from bright models (see the image of Roberto Cavalli), as well as from more casual options, as at the Celine show.

Color-heavy models

What colors do you primarily associate with the winter season? Maybe black? Or is it gray? Yes, but this season, designers break stereotypes and recommend choosing outerwear in rich colors: from hot pink to neon orange.

But the trend this season is not just bright colors. Cream coats clearly stand out in the latest collections of fashion brands. We agree that this option is impractical compared to the basic black model, but you can afford it as an exception. Pair a cream coat with earthy sweaters, brown or beige pants, and light-colored shoes.
