The article caused a small shock among the filmmakers. One of those who decided to support Scorsese was The Shape of Water director Guillermo del Toro.

“Many misunderstandings, careless mistakes, and hostile adjectives with no real justification are derogatory, cruel, and malicious. This article was designed to increase traffic, but how much does it cost?” – wrote the director on Twitter.

“Most of the article is akin to condemning Picasso for ‘wrong perspective’ or Gauguin for ‘brilliance,'” said the director.

“If God had asked me to shorten my life to prolong Scorsese’s life, I would have taken it. This man understands cinema. Protects the cinema. brings cinema. He always fought for the arts and was against the industry. He never obeyed anyone and firmly entered history, ”said the artist.

“When I read articles like these that affect the wisest and most benevolent, I feel the impending collapse of culture and ask myself: for what? And I lost myself, ”the director finished his words.

Recall, it was previously reported that Keanu Reeves will play the main role in the TV series “The Devil in the White City”, which will be directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Leonardo DiCaprio.
