No less than seventeen people will sit on the dock in front of Eddy de Pretto. After a concert in a church in June 2021 the 29-year-old singer was the victim of a wave of hatred, death threats and homophobic slurs online.
On Monday 3 October 2022 the trial for aggravated harassment online was opened in front of the criminal court in Paris and is to last until Friday 8 October.

According to Information about France, the seventeen defendants they are particularly young: they are all in their twenties. The oldest is 26 years old. The defendants were arrested following the homophobic cyberbullying which they submitted to the artist Eddy de Pretto, present during the trial.
The facts date back to June 2021. Invited as part of an ongoing music festival in the church of Saint-Eustache, in Paris, Eddy de Pretto had interpreted his title “À quoi bon”. He then sang the difficulties of reconciling sexual orientation and religion. During the trial, the singer confided that the parish priest of the Saint-Eustache church had told him expressed his full support. “

Homophobic cyberbullying
However, once the concert was posted on social networks, Eddy de Pretto almost got it 3,000 hate messages. This violence prompted the singer to file a complaint which led to an investigation opened by the National Pole for Fighting Hate Online in Paris.
Called the bar, Eddy de Pretto explained “fully assume” the choice to interpret this title in a church: ” My wish was to ask questions as an artist about crucial and important issuesI didn’t think it could have such a negative feedback. The singer also confided the extent of the trauma caused by this wave of hatred, causing ” sleep disorders ” And “Depressive disorders”.
